An afternoon of computer science when BoltonSICT visited Holy Infants

What a great afternoon BoltonSICT had at Holy Infants this week working with their Year1s

A carousel of activities was planned, the aim being to develop the pupils programming skills.

We used Purplemash and  software 2Go, we used two free apps Kodable & BlueBot. The children said they thought they were playing games , but the apps were a little tricky in places. To help practice left & right, using the remote control cars helped some groups made really complex pathways for their cars! The BlueBot app was used to focus the children on a particular coding focus – BeeBot had to land on a given end square – that was not always the case!

We all agreed that we learnt lots & had lots of fun as well!

Online Safety & Scratch2 @Queensbridge

We were asked to go into Queensbridge to work with their year6’s, looking at how to use scratch to begin to program their multiple choice online safety quizzes. As it was Safer Internet Day #SID17  part of the morning session was use to plan possible question and discuss answers.

Hopefully some of these will be finished in time to enter our competition.

Good Luck
