It was lovely to see the yr3s from St Joseph’s this week, what a busy day building and programming. We worked collaboratively, learnt new computing vocabulary, we learnt about the coding blocks and what their job was when we used them in our programs.
A great way to finish the term with a trip which involves Lego! The focus for the day was to use Lego WeDo2 to build a range of mini robots each having a particular learning focus, such as how to program the motor ,speed, distant sensor. We then built Milo and programmed him to go for a particular distance and then reverse.
In the afternoon, our challenge was to build a moon base buggy that we then programmed to move objects.
A quote from one of the pupils… ” the best trip ever!”
Highlights from our latest education computer science trip.
When year1s arrived at our centre, we could tell it was going to be a good day.
Like all the other classes from St Joseph’s they were a credit to the school, they listened work collaboratively and total absorbed in their learning. they even forgot their morning snack!
You can see some of the highlight from their trip.
Great finish to the end of our second week back , we were joined by year three’s from St Joseph’s RC primary. Last time this class came to SICT they used the original Lego WeDo, this year we were using our new sets of WeDo2 in the morning we made Milo and got to grips with programming him and using the sensor block.
In the afternoon we used the guided project – Moon Base – you can see from the video highlights we were very pleased with the end results. A great of fun and learning.
