This week sees the launch of our annual Online Safety competition for Bolton schools.
The UK Safer Internet Centre – a partnership of three leading charities; Childnet, the South West Grid for Learning and the Internet Watch Foundation – provide resources for children, schools and families, and tools for getting involved at www.saferinternetday.org.uk.
The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet.
This year theme is:
Be the change: unite for a better internet
Schools can register as a supporter and there are a range of education packs to support schools.
It would be great to hear what your school is planning to do for #SID2017
A massive thank you to everyone who sent in entries for our Schools ICT Design a Christmas Card competition. We had a great time in the office looking through all your wonderful entries. They were all fabulous and made it very hard for us to choose but after some serious conversations the winner has to be Finley’s entry from St Saviour CE Primary School – Well Done!
Finley’s card will be the official 2016 Christmas Card from the Schools ICT unit so look out for it coming to your school soon. Finley has won a morning of Scratch programming for his class in January.
Once again thank you for all your entries and hard work.
Bring on the mince pies!
We invited all schools to design our unit Christmas Card.
We had a great response, thank you to all the schools that entered.
In no particular order, here are the designs that have been shortlisted. The winner will be announced next week . Good Luck!
Which one is your favourite?
There were posters, collages, Power points, board games, coding games, raps and songs, stop motion videos, models and even an edible e-safety cookie!
Here are some of the highlights.
The focus for this competition is for schools to show their learning linked to this year’s SID2016 theme – ‘Play your part for a better internet!’
Entries can be in any format – video, collage, posters, and the wackier the better!
Closing date for entries is 1pm Friday 26thFebruary 2016
There will be a prize for KS1 and KS2.
The winning schools will be announced early March and displayed on BoltonSICT Blog site.
