Writing for the whole wide world!

This week saw our first ever Digital Leaders – Blogging Workshop.

This workshop was attend by five schools that each brought at least three pupils destined to be their digital leader for blogging in their school.

The digital leaders will be sharing school news, debates, they will listen to what our peers want us to blog about and they will lead the blog posts in their own specific Digital leaders area. They are going to use blogging as a tool to improve English skills. They know we will have to try our very best with their writing as the audience is the potentially the whole of the world wide web.

The feedback from the pupils and staff was fab and they were all looking forward to going back into school to share their knowledge.

Our first ever … Digital Leaders – Esafety Champions Workshop

This week saw our first ever Digital Leaders – Esafety Champions Workshop. This workshop was attend by ten schools that each brought at least three pupils destined to be ESafety Champions in their school.

The digital leaders will offer support for their friends and throughout the workshop shown how to identify possible e-safety issues arising around school.

They will be encouraged to understand that they are a very important set of “eyes and ears” as sometimes their friends will not share things with their teachers but discuss things that are worrying them with their friends.

The feedback from the pupils and staff was fab and they were all looking forward to going back into school to share their knowledge.

New Blogging Digital leaders from St Andrews Over Hulton

Today we held the second of our Digital Leader workshops – the focus today was blogging. St Andrews are early awaiting their new school blog and attended todays workshop so then they will be prepared to start blogging once their site goes live, in the meantime they are practicing in our training blog.

First we discussed why it is good to blog, to share school life and improve their writing.

As a blogging digital leader they will be setting the example of what excellent blogging looks like. They will also be able to set up blog posts for children to comment on, this could be on anything from fundraising events, special learning days, really any event that happens in school or on the news.

Below are some screen shots of their first blogs, keep an eye on what they are blog about here and maybe you could leave a comment. All comments are moderated before going live.

Digital Leaders Workshop – Stop Frame Animation

Welcome to the newly appointed Digital Leaders from St Andrews Over Hulton & St Peters Farnworth.

Lights, camera action… our digital leaders produced their version of Walking through the Jungle written by Julie Lacome.

They planned their animation , tested the cameras and then started… they soon realised the secret was to keep the camera still and take enough still shots so then they can be edited.

We all really enjoyed the workshop, that they can’t wait to wear their new digital leader badges in school,  and start to share their new skills in their class.

We have just completed our summer CPD overview.

We are particularly looking forward to our new Digital Leaders workshops. The aim of these workshops are to develop pupils, giving them the opportunity to embed further in depth skills and knowledge using such programs as Scratch2, blogging and animation, which they in turn will be able to share their knowledge alongside the class teacher.

We are also working in partnership with the Bolton CAS team and JTRS hosting a free workshop using of LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 in creating inspiring and outstanding computing lessons for KS2 pupils.
