Esafety Competition Winners – Gaskell

Earlier this year BoltonSICT ran an Esafety competition for all Bolton Primary Schools.

With the changes to the curriculum and the raised importance of children learning how to stay safe on-line. We felt that by encouraging schools to get involved with Safer Internet Day or SID2015  this was an ideal opportunity to raise the awareness and importance of safeguarding and on-line learning.

Our overall winners were Gaskell Primary & Eagley Juniors – part of their prize was a trip to our training centre for a fun packed day of Computer Science.

Here are the highlights of Gaskell’ trip.

Eagley Juniors trip highlights will follow later in the term !

Computer Science and Blogging

Well first day back after a half term and off on a school trip!

Today saw the fouth class visits from one of local schools – it was the turn of the year 5 class. They had a day packed full of learning – using Lego to build robots and then program them using WeDo software.

In the afternoon their focus was an introduction to blogging, click here to see what they though of their day

Using Lego WeDo kits, to build the Goalkeeper, programmed it. The children soon discovered why changing the speed was important – slower for  Mrs Lyons so she could score a goal and  faster when it was Mr Mills turn!
