St Gregory’s RC Primary claim their Online Safety prize!

Earlier on in the year we ran our Online Safety competition for primary schools linked to Safer Internet Day  We were please to announce that St Gregory’s RC primary won!

Their prize was a trip to our training centre for a day of computing using Lego. We had a selection of children from year3 – year6, some used Lego WeDo2 and some used Lego Mindstorm.

There were posters, collages, Power points, board games, coding games, raps and songs, stop motion videos, models and even an edible e-safety cookie!

ONLINE SAFETY COMPETITION

SID2016_logoOPEN TO ALL BOLTON PRIMARY SCHOOLS
To raise the awareness and importance of safeguarding and online learning, Bolton Schools ICT are running an Online Competition for our schools.

The focus for this competition is for schools to show their learning linked to this year’s SID2016 theme – ‘Play your part for a better internet!’
Entries can be in any format – video, collage, posters, and the wackier the better!
Closing date for entries is 1pm Friday 26thFebruary 2016

There will be a prize for KS1 and KS2.
The winning schools will be announced early March and displayed on BoltonSICT Blog site.

Here’s our 2nd Esafety Competition winners – Eagley Juniors

Earlier this year BoltonSICT ran an Esafety competition for all Bolton Primary Schools.

With the changes to the curriculum and the raised importance of children learning how to stay safe on-line. We felt that by encouraging schools to get involved with Safer Internet Day or SID2015  this was an ideal opportunity to raise the awareness and importance of safeguarding and on-line learning.

Our overall winners were Gaskell Primary & Eagley Juniors – part of their prize was a trip to our training centre for a fun packed day of Computer Science.

Esafety Competition Winners – Gaskell

Summer 2Code Competition

Code TagxedoOpen to all Bolton Schools that subcribe to Purplemash

The prizes are being donated by the team at 2Simple :

  • A year’s subscription to Serial Mash or
  • A choice of one of the Premium Packages

There will be two categories:

Chimp for KS1 & Gibbon for KS2 school entries

When submitting your entries, make it clear as to which category the game is to be entered, including a game overview and instructions.

To support this competition staff can find plans and teaching resources in the Teacher section of Purplemash and a 2Code Game Planner can be found in 2Code

The winning schools will be announced early July and displayed on BoltonSICT Blog site.

Esafety Competition Announcement…

Bolton Schools ICT Unit recently ran an Esafety Competition for all Bolton Primary Schools linked to Safer Internet Day 2015.

SID2015Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre in February of each year to promote the safe and responsible use of online technology and mobile phones for children and young people.

Safer Internet Day 2015 was on Tuesday 10th February 2015, with the theme ‘Let’s create a better internet together’, offering the opportunity to focus on both the creative and positive things that children and young people are doing online, as well as the role that we all play in helping to create a better internet.

This is the first inter-school competition that Bolton Schools ICT unit has organised for schools. It was felt that with changes in the new computing curriculum and the access children have to the internet and social media this was the ideal opportunity to raise the awareness and importance of safeguarding and esafety learning.

Schools entries could take the form of any format – video, collage, posters or even computer games. Bolton Schools ICT unit was astounded with the quality and quantity of entries, clearly schools have taken this opportunity to raise the esafety learning in their schools and are now looking to make this an annual event.
